Next Pastors Quarterly Prayer Meeting

Our next quarterly gathering of pastors praying for our city we will be on July 9th, the second Wednesday of July. We will gather from noon to one.  At the invitation of Mayor Mark McBrayer and Mayor Pro Tem Christy Martinez-Garcia, we will meet at Citizens Tower, 1314 Avenue K, the center for the City of Lubbock's government. Our meeting will be on the first floor in the City Council Chambers.

We will have an opportunity to pray with our city leaders and for all of the departments under the purview of the City of Lubbock.  It is an opportunity for the pastors of the city, who are shepherds for our citizens, to partner in prayer with elected and appointed officials of our city, who also serve as shepherds of our citizens.  Romans 13:1 says that governments are established by God and leaders are appointed by God and we are all called to lift up those in authority in prayer (I Tim. 2:2).  It is an honor that we have been invited into the city-council chambers for the purpose of prayer.

There are three options for parking:  1) the multilevel parking garage directly south of the Citizens Tower, (enter the garage from Avenue L) 2) the parking lot to the east of Citizens Tower, and 3) curbside parking.  As you enter the lobby of the Citizens Tower, you will see the doors into the City Council Chambers where we will gather for prayer.  There are restrooms down the hallway adjacent to Avenue K.

During this time of prayer, we are inviting leaders who work in the city offices to join us if they would like to pray or receive prayer.  You may have an opportunity to pray individually for someone seeking prayer.  We will also have a handout with a list of the many departments for whom the Mayor/Council are responsible.  That list will be a useful tool for prayer in that hour as well as when you take it home to prompt you for prayer in specific ways.  Pastors will be glad they took time to prioritize this hour for prayer for our city leaders and acquainted themselves with our city government.
