Here is the variety of ways that congregations, corporations and individuals have invested in Pray Lubbock:

Corporate Matching Gifts.

Underwrite the re-establishment of the daily radio ministry, "Pray, Lubbock!"

Budget congregational giving for Pray Lubbock.

Find creative ways to give.

Call Steve Doles to preach and receive a special offering.

Contribute personally to Pray Lubbock.

Connect Pray Lubbock with congregational members who are potential donors.

Designate gifts.

Congregational Underwriting of Operational Expenses.

Corporate Matching Gifts.  We have had two corporations offer contributions of $20,000 or more which were used as incentives as matching gifts.  This contribution help not only supply funds for our ministry, but also encourage others to invest in this ministry and take advantage of the offer to have their gift doubled in its impact.

Underwrite the re-establishment of the daily radio ministry, "Pray, Lubbock!"  This prayer ministry was aired on KAMY 90.1 for four years.  Format changes in the network necessitated discontinuation of the radio prayer ministry.  This three-part prayer ministry covered strategic needs for the city, praying the headlines and praying for personal requests.  We also systematically prayed for Schools, Businesses, Churches, Families and Governments.  Funds are need to purchase airtime, produce the program, and supply phones and facilities to take calls during airtime and respond with prayer.

Budget congregational giving for Pray Lubbock.  Monthly, quarterly or annual contributions out of missions or other outreach budget lines are the staple of Pray Lubbock’s support.  Some popular amounts currently by congregations are $50 per month and $100 per month.  We also have larger regular monthly gifts as well as some who choose to give quarterly and annually, as fits their budget.

Find creative ways to give.  One congregation designates a tithe of their Sunday offering for various ministries.  Pray Lubbock periodically receives the tithe from a given Sunday’s offering.  Another congregation gives a percentage of their monthly receipts to Pray Lubbock. Another congregation allows members to designate over-and-above gifts to Pray Lubbock in their Sunday offerings.

Call Steve Doles to preach and receive a special offering.  The Executive Director can preach or share the vision of Pray Lubbock to your congregation.  Included in his message, or in a brief presentation following, the Pray Lubbock board requests permission to present your congregation with the opportunity to respond financially to the ministry of Pray Lubbock, either with a love offering, or a one-time gift to Pray Lubbock from the congregation.  An honorarium for Steve is encouraged, but optional.

Contribute personally to Pray Lubbock.  “Pastors’ shares” are contributions from the pastor’s personal finances.  This gives the pastor convinced of the impact Pray Lubbock is having on him, his ministry, and the city, a level of commitment beyond congregational support.  A monthly contribution is suggested.  As one pastor said, “I may not have control over my congregation’s finances, but I do have control over my personal finances.”

Connect Pray Lubbock with congregational members who are potential donors.  We would be honored to share this vision with someone you think would enjoy investing in this ministry.

Designate gifts. Occasionally individuals are interested designating their support for a specific prayer initiative, prayer event of Pray Lubbock or designated support for salary.  Options are available for this purpose.

Congregational Underwriting of Operational Expenses.  Some congregations have chosen to be provide line items of operational expenses.  Here are the details:

Might your congregation be able to commit, for one year, to be responsible for one of these items in our operations budget?  After one year you could renew your commitment or we could seek another congregation to take over that item.  Covering these operations expenses would free up over $675 per month for ministry expenses.  Here is a concise list - with details of each item below.  Please contact steve@praylubbock.com if you would like to consider underwriting one of these items.

Office Rent - $216 per month

Rent of the Pray Lubbock Office space includes free access to the prayer room located next door and is rented from Alliance Reality Services.  God has provided this location with maximum convenience for groups to use the prayer room, free of charge, virtually at any time.  The downtown location provides ease of access to our city and county government and Chamber of Commerce entities. Office hours are 8:30 -12:00 and 1:00 to 5:00, unless I am at an appointment outside the office.  The lease for this two-office suit, approximately 270 sq. ft. suite is $215 per month, payable on the 1st of the month.

Office phones, internet, and FAX - $135 per month

The office phone system, including two phone lines, internet access and a FAX line is with NTS Communications.  This provides the necessary office communication tools: FAX has been largely replaced by internet technology, but it is still needed to communicate with congregations who don’t have email access – many of whom do have fax machines.  The internet access allows for our website, www.praylubbock.com, maintenance and email communication with pastors, prayer leaders, youth pastors, university ministers as well as typical office email needs.  The phone system includes a voice mail system which provides a means of announcing upcoming events to callers.  The cost for all of this is $135 per month due on the 16th of the month.

Cell phone – $104 per month

A cell phone, including texting capabilities, currently with AT&T Wireless, has become indispensible in being available at all times to respond to needs of pastors, and community leaders.  Having a cell phone optimizes the use of my time in making connections with others.  The cost is $104 per month, due on the 17th of the month.

Letterhead and Envelopes for Newsletter - $49 per month

Total Cost for sending about 300 copies of the Monthly Pray Lubbock newsletter: paper $21.50, envelopes $27.50.  Total per month: $49

Bulk Mail Cost for Newsletter - $35 per month

Bulk Mail for the Pray Lubbock Newsletter, which currently reaches nearly 300 pastors and leaders monthly, disseminates current prayer initiatives and reports on prayer activities in our area.  At the current bulk rate, the cost is $35 per month.  Deposits of any amount can be made into our account at the Business Mail Entry in Lubbock - when the mailing is brought in on the second Tuesday of the month, the payment for the mailing is drawn from our account.

Already covered: Newsletter processing - $40+ per month

St Luke’s Methodist, via the hands of Michelle Heath, has been copying, folding, stuffing, sealing and labeling, and delivering our monthly newsletter to the bulk mailing center for three years.  This has provided a savings of an average of $40 per month for printing and folding alone, in addition to the time involved in the other processes.  Thank you Michelle and St. Luke’s!

Office Stationary Printing – excluding newsletter usage - $100-150 every 7-8 months)

The Pray Lubbock Stationary includes the red-flame and black-letter logo, with a grey flame visible in the center of the sheet. The matching envelopes are on a fiber/grey on heavy-stock paper.  We have priced other printers and considered lesser quality materials, but the difference in cost wouldn’t justify the obvious decrease in quality of the products.  This stationary is used for written communication from the office with pastors, elected officials, school officials, etc.  It also serves as the letterhead for our Pray Lubbock Newsletter.  The cost breaks down like this: Letterhead: $215 per 3000 sheets (7.2 cents per sheet); Envelopes: $275 per 3000 envelopes (9.2 cents per envelope) While usage varies, this quantity, costing $490 normally lasts 7-8 months.  The next order will be placed in July 2008.

Website Hosting - $30 semi-annually

Our website is hosted by www.10domains.com at a rate of $30 per 6-month lease.  Payments are due in May and October.

Postage - $20 per month

Postage includes personal correspondence with pastors, elected officials, school officials, etc. as well as mailing out contribution acknowledgments to donors.

Already covered: Payroll and payroll tax processing - $21 per pay period

Fast Pay has been processing Pray Lubbock’s payroll checks and the quarterly tax deposits for four years saving Pray Lubbock $21 per pay period. Thank you Fast Pay!
